DIESEL MECHANIC

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform PM's on both tractor and trailers, as well as general repairs
• Perform minor, mostly un-supervised repairs
• Tire changes and wheel stud replacements
• Repair/replace lights
• Brake jobs
• Cab and interior problems
• Repair transmissions, drive-line and differentials
• Provide assistance and training to lower level techs on standard technical and diagnostic repairs
• Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components.
• Prepares, inspects, and operates machines prior to delivery
• Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and part
• Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
• Services and maintains equipment sold and/or owned by the company
• Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures
• Analyzes customer repair and maintenance requirements
• Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems
• Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Performs maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment
• Makes recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria
• Makes parts replacement decisions assuring optimum economic reusability
• Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to support service technicians

• 5+ years of mechanical experience with on the job training or Diploma in vehicle maintenance from vocational or trade school
• May require ASE certifications
• Knowledge of compliance with OSHA, DOT, and CSA regulations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Standing for an extended period of time, walk, sit, kneel, climb squat and use hands / fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
• Must be able to lift up to 90 pounds
• Ability to work effectively and navigate within confined areas of a generator enclosure.

EXPERIENCE

• Diesel Mechanic: 2 years (Preferred)
• Heavy equipment, engine or electric power generation repair: 2 years (Required)
